Silver and Gold.

I still can't justify buying nail polish and painting my nails. It's a burden growing my nails because I always get dirt  under them at work and I run the risk of breaking them (they're not exactly the strongest *eep*). The color often chips within a few days because of how often I wash my hands.

But I can't help it....
I love painting my nails. I'm quite addicted.

Pepper Poppers

Christmas is just around the corner and with the boyfriend's family living out of town and my family going out of town, he and I are both left on our own to spend the holidays together. Don't cue the sappy music because I really am looking forward to having a quiet Christmas, just the two of us.

I've been trying to plan a Christmas dinner for two, and seeing as I'm not really the best cook (you're looking at someone who has burnt the pot boiling water) I made the decision to leave the heavy cooking to the boyfriend and take over the appies and desserts. He doesn't know this yet but he knows my track record; he'll be more than willing to agree.

These little pockets of goodies have been making its rounds around Pinterest, a recipe originally found here. It combines three of my favorite things: cream cheese, bacon and jalapeno peppers! How can you go wrong with that? You can't.

The recipe asks for only 4 ingredients:  Pillsbury Crescent dough, cream cheese, jalapeno peppers, and bacon. I tweaked the original recipe a bit. I added garlic powder, paprika, chopped up the jalapeno and blended them all together before putting a dollop on the dough. Top with the bacon pieces....

Pinch all the corners together, pop in the oven for 15mins at 350....

Et voila! Yummy goodness :)

It makes 16 poppers, which was more than enough for me and the boyfriend. So we had some for snacks and the leftovers were served as a side to our beef stroganoff dinner. And, I don't what it was with the jalapeno peppers I used but they didn't turn out nearly as hot as I would've liked. I think when I make these again, I'll add a pinch or so of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to really give it a bite. I do love my spice!

December Wedding.

(You know you're getting old when everyone else around you start getting married.)

A diamond in the rough. Urban Planet. One-wear kind of dress. I believe it served its purpose.

I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of an old friend. My feet hurt from the new not-worn-in heels. I froze my behind because the sun decided to take the day off yesterday. (How unfortunate that the weather wise nice earlier in the week and even today, but not yesterday.) My hair didn't know what it wanted to do so it stayed rather blah. And I think I came to the conclusion that I'm not a fan of December weddings.

But regardless, the wedding was sweet and beautiful. The bride and the groom both looked lovely! I couldn't be more happy for the two of them :)

Seeing Gold.

What happens when boredom happens. Not exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted black glitter over top of gold but I can't find black glitter polish;! I thought about going gold glitter on black, but full on black would've been too much for work. (Not that this one isn't.... thank god for bosses who don't care much about how you do your nails.)

Wordless Wednesday [12.07.11]

He knows he can't always be there for me, but he knows how to make up for it when he can't.

Thank you, boyfriend.

With this ring, I thee wed.

(I have Corpse Bride in my head.)

While trying to find accessories for the dress I'm wearing to a wedding this weekend, I came to two conclusions:

1. I don't hate the colour gold as much anymore. I don't know when, how or why I started disliking gold. For as long as I can remember, I've always just had this thing against them. But not so much anymore apparently.

2. It's almost impossible to find a perfectly fitted ring for my fingers. Damn you knuckles. Last time I checked I was a size 5 when it comes to rings. Mind you that was about eight years ago when I went to get sized for a ring at a jeweler. Every single ring I liked and tried on fit perfectly around my knuckles, but loose and swiveling around past the knuckles. Do rings come in half sizes?

Winter Skin Woes.

I've (re)found a not-so-new obsession. Body Butters! Body Shop always has some kind of sale going on, so it's good to check them out every once in a while. I was running low on my Coconut Body Butter so I went in, and I came out with 3 new ones. And with gold tin container. The whole thing is sitting underneath my Christmas tree right; it's a present for myself :)

Pictured: Mango, Sweet Lemon, Moringa, Coconut. And they also threw in a small sampler of their Shea Body Butter, which I will now have to get because I LOVE it! And scarf from Urban Outfitters.
Of course when I came home, I realized I wasn't actually low on the Coconut. I have the small size.... and a practically new big size. I think I'm set for the cold winter air. But I still want that Shea....

Wordless Wednesday. [11.30.11]

What's more comforting on a chilly night than being wrapped up in a big blanket with a big mug of hot chocolate? Being wrapped up in a big blanket with a big mug of Nutella Hot Chocolate.

...with Hershey's Milk Chocolate shavings for a complete chocolate overdose.

First official post, and it's going to be about food. I love food. And not the healthy eating kind too. My name is Gee, and I'm a junkfood junkie. And while we're putting things out there in the open, I should say I absolutely suck at cooking. I can't for the life of me cook a decent meal. But I'm a killer with baking. I LOVE the oven. What's not to love? You prep your whatever, pop it in the oven, set the timer and forget about it until you hear the *beeeep*. It's awesome.

Now the great thing about having search engines at our disposal, you can literally just type in whatever ingredients you have lying around your pantry and it will spit out a gazillion recipes that you can make with what you have.

That's how I came across this muffin recipe:

Banana Coconut Muffin

I doubled the recipe (except for the coconut, 'cause I only had 1 cup total), used really ripe bananas, used unsweetened coconut, and added about a cup of chocolate chip. I never would've thought of mixing coconuts and bananas, but it actually works. Definitely yummy. Next time though, I'd probably use less sugar 'cause with the ripe bananas and chocolate chip, it's pretty much overdose on sugar.

I think I'll let my bananas over-ripe more often.

Woot! Hello again, Blog-o-sphere!

Last time I had a blog, it chronicled all the boohoo's that went through my everyday life. I don't really want to do that anymore. Partly 'cause I just can't pull the emo vibe, but mostly because there's nothing to be emo about nowadays. So. This is me. A life of randoms.
